Happy Tuesday!

So raise your hand if you are confused about the title, and also trying to figure out what Cacao is?

Let’s first talk about what is Cacao is. Cacao is beanlike seeds from which cocoa, cocoa butter, and chocolate are made.

For today’s recipe, I used organic cacao powder, which has great natural ingredients: magnesium, Vitamin C, and fiber.  This powder can be used in place of your regular cocoa powder, it gives you the taste of chocolate with all the healthy benefits.

I absolutely enjoyed this recipe, but what I LOVED about this recipe is that my daughter loved it as well. Any time that I can get her to enjoy anything that is healthy, then I win as a mother. She thought that I used chocolate syrup. Ha!  Wrong!  So, parents, this passed the picky kid test AND the healthy test!

Peanut Butter Cacao Smoothie Bowl

2 frozen bananas
½ cup almond milk (or any milk of your choosing)
2 tablespoon peanut butter (or any nut butters)
2 tablespoon  cacao powder

For Toppings:

Sliced Banana
Chocolate granola
Peanut butter drizzle
Mini chocolate chips
Chia Seeds

Directions:

  1. Combine bananas, milk, nut butter, and cacao powder into blender and puree until completely smooth. The texture should be thick.  If mixture is too thick you can add in a touch more of milk to thin it out.
  2. Pour into bowl and top with toppings. Enjoy!
